New Jersey - Estate planning lawyer and Matus Law Group’s Founding Attorney Christine Matus pursues community service currently serving as an active mediator with the Special Civil Part, a unit of the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division.
Dedicated to public service, Ms. Matus combines her love of the law with a strong connection to the New Jersey community and volunteers her time to community service outside of her practice with the Matus Law Group.
"Community service, volunteerism, and pro bono work are the core values of the legal team at Matus Law Group," said Christine Matus, a trusted New Jersey estate planning lawyer dedicated to helping families plan for life and care for loved ones. "And since mediation is becoming the preferred method to resolve lawsuits and disputes, I'm happy to devote my time and expertise to help parties work out a solution acceptable to everyone involved."
While any one individual interested in community service is eligible to become a mediator only a few become court-approved mediators, like Ms. Matus. To gain the status of an Accredited Professional Mediator Christine Matus had to meet specific criteria including years of professional experience, education, and training.
As a Special Civil Part (Small Claims) mediator Ms. Matus is often approved by the court to mediate small claims actions - civil cases involving $3,000 or less in claimed damages.
"Mediation gives greater flexibility in resolving the disputes," explained Christine Matus. "The mediator assists the parties in reaching their own resolution of the dispute rather than a settlement imposed upon them by the court. Also, disputes are resolved much faster when they are mediated, which saves time and money for the parties."
Besides serving as a mediator with the Superior Court of New Jersey, Special Civil Part, Ms. Matus finds time for other public service projects. She volunteers for Caregivers, is a Board Member of the Ocean County YMCA, and is a member of the Central Ocean County Rotary.
Ms. Matus has served as General Counsel to Southern Cross Management, Inc. (www.southxcapital.com) and the Attorney Ethics and Disciplinary Board, District IIIA, 2006 - 2010. She also has served as a Board of Directors to the American Cancer Society, Ocean County Chapter, 1998.
Her public service projects include pro bono work, and commitment to non-profit organizations such as Mary’s Little Children, where she serves as General Counsel.
